The Zamfara state community protection guards CPD operatives allegedly killed a prominent Islamic scholar Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada.
The CPG operatives was reported to have stormed the resident of Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada Tuesday and picked him up to unknown destination.
He was said to be taken by the operatives for questioning as regard to insecurity issue.
Resident of Mada town who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent via telephone call that, the CPG operatives stormed the resident of Sheikh Mada and took him outside the town few metres away and slaughtered him.
“They came direct to his resident at around 3:30pm when he was busy teaching our children and took him away, in not less than 30 minutes, only to hear that they slaughtered him.
According to him, about one year ago, Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada intervene in rescue of five Okada riders from the hand of vigilante who intercepted them and accused them as bandits on their way to home from outside the state, thereby one vigilante member popularly known as Maikarfi accused Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada in conniving with bandits.
This case happened over one year now and even the Criminals Investigation Department at Zamfara state police command is aware about it and after releasing those Okada riders, the vigilante members under the leadership of one Maikarfi accused Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada in conniving with bandits “. He said.
“Maikarfi is opportune to be a member of Zamfara community protection guards CPD and we are accusing him for masterminding killing of Sheikh Mada”. He said.
“We are calling on Zamfara state government to investigate the matter and brought those mastermind killing of our popular Islamic scholar to book”.
As at the moment of compiling the report, efforts to get the state commandant of CPG Col. Yandoto rtd proved abortive by our correspondent.
Late Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Madam funeral prayers will take place today by 12:00pm.
