Kano State Government has reiterated it’s resolved to partner with Association of Online Media Guild, commissioner of information and internal affairs, Baba Halilu Dantiye stated this.
The commissioner stated this during the opening session while addressing the participants. saying “I congratulate the Online Media Guild, and we assure you of our support. If there are areas where we can offer support, we will do so,” stated Commissioner Dantiye”.
Halilu Dantiye emphasized the importance of combating fake news associated with online media and highlighted the distinction between trained journalists and others.
Dantiye further urged adherence to journalistic ethics and encouraged journalists to leverage their skills and platforms to disseminate accurate information.
Hotpen reports that, the Association of Online Media Guild organized a one-day capacity-building workshop, drawing journalists from various media organizations across Kano state.
Also speaking, Director General of Media and Communication to Governor Kano state, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa who underscored the cordial relationship between the government and the media, commended the association for providing a platform for professional development.
Said he:- “We take the online media seriously at the Kano Government House. We will review the issue of Retainership with the Online Media Guild”.
The interim chairman of the association, Abdullateef Abubakar Jose described the Online Media Guild as an association of journalists operating online with members across Nigeria, headquartered in Kano, he emphasized the commitment to promoting ethical journalism and delivering accurate news.
The workshop aimed to enhance professional standards and promote responsible reporting among journalists.
Highlight of the occasion include presentation of certificates to participants marking the successful completion of the one-day capacity-building initiative.
