Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has earmarked over five hundred Ifthar feeding (breaking of Fast) centers across the state for the next 30 days starting from Monday.
The gesture came on the heels of distribution of 150, 000 bags of Rice, 150, 000 bags of maize and 100, 000 cartons of noodles across the 27 LGAs of the state.
A statement by Hajia Zainab Rabo Ringim, the Special Assistant media Affairs that was made available to newsmen quoted her principal to have said that the free feeding centres would allow citizens to break their fasting on daily basis without stress.
Hajia Rabo Ringim said “While the governor lamented the current economic hardship in the country, he however appealed to citizens to remain patient and prayerful that conditions would soon be over.”
Namadi maintained that government at all levels are aware of the economic condition of her people, as he further assured that the situation is never permanent.
According to the statement signed Hajia Ringim “Malam Umar Namadi mission was to supports citizens and reduce hardship at the trying period particularly that the 2024 Ramadan fasting has commenced”.
Governor Namadi further assured that government would continue to provide various means of supporting the poor and vulnerable to improve their life.
In his remarks at the event, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaji Auwalu Sankara commended Governor Namadi for his passion to supports poor and vulnerable citizens through various interventions across the state.
Sankara assured that his ministry would supervise the distribution to ensured that the food items got to the poor and vulnerable members of the society.
