The senator representing Zamfara Central at the national assembly, Sen. Ikra Aliyu Bilbis has procured 13,000 bags of assorted Ramadan grains for distribution to his constituents.
Zamfara state Governor Dauda Lawal while launching the formal distribution of the food items procured by Sen. Ikra Aliyu Bilbis held at Tsafe local government Secretariat Wednesday, commended Senator Bilbis for the gesture to his constituents.
Governor Dauda stated that the gesture will go along way in reducing the socioeconomic hardship that the constituents are currently in particularly less privileged people.
The governor urged other politicians and wealthy individuals to emulate Sen. Bilbis by assisting the needy within their localities particularly in this month of Ramadan for them to perform their fasting with ease.
Speaking earlier, Sen. Ikra Aliyu Bilbis stated that the gesture was aimed at assisting his constituents to perform their fasting with ease.
He maintained that the assorted Ramadan grains provided to his constituents contained, Millet, Rice, Maiza, Corns and Sugar.
He explained that the gesture will be sustain, adding that the grains will be shared equally among the four local government areas he is representing.
Sen. Bilbis enjoined the committee saddled with responsibilities for distributions of the assorted Ramadan grains provided to his constituents to do justice and fairness by ensuring that the grains reached the target beneficiaries.
