The Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards employing adequate mechanisms for development of livestock farming, aquaculture as well crop production to create wealth and sustainable job opportunities for the people.
Governor Bala Muhammad stated this when he received a delegation from Livestock Production and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project on a courtesy call at the Government house Bauchi.
He explained that the state government would maximize the opportunity of the project to improve productivity and commercialization of targeted livestock production systems and strengthen the resilience of livelihoods, including those affected by farmer-herder conflicts.
The Governor maintained that the project would not only transform the agricultural landscape of the state but improve the livelihoods of farmers, while saying that his administration has developed strategies aimed at positioning the state as a viable investment destination for agribusiness.
He therefore added that his government is supporting the implementation of the project for its potential to enhance the already existing livestock value chains in the state.
While charging the delegation to provide policy guidelines, strategic orientation and direction for the project in the state, Governor Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir implored individuals, groups, cooperative societies and investors along the livestock value chain development in the state to capitalize on the project and make use of this great opportunity.
Earlier speaking, the State Project Coordinator L-PRES Dr. Rose Danladi Idi has explained that The Livestock Production and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project is a World Bank assisted Project in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as the State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development aimed at improving livestock value chain.
She equally commended the Governor for the provision of an enabling environment and promised more collaboration for the development of the Agricultural sector.
