The Task Team Lead of the Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene SURWASH, Mrs. Awa Diagne has commended the Gombe State Government for the implementation of the SURWASH project in the state.
She made the commendation in Gombe Yesterday during a debriefing session with Governor Inuwa Yahaya.
Mrs. Awa Diagne attributed the success of the project to the political will exhibited by the Governor.
She also lauded Gombe for being the first State to sign the Policy, Institutional, and Regulation Plan (PIRP), describing the development as a significant milestone.
Prior to her meeting with the Governor, the SURWASH TTL visited key government agencies including the Ministry of Water, Environment and Forest Resources, the Budget Office, and the Office of the SA on Development Partners Coordination.
The team also conducted field visits to project sites in Gombe and Kwami Local Government Areas, with a commitment to sustaining the partnership between the state and the SURWASH initiative in the mission to enhance water and sanitation infrastructure.
In his remark Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed his administration readiness for expanded collaboration with the World Bank and other international organizations to further advance the state’s progress and prosperity.
Acknowledging the water and sanitation challenges faced by the state, the Governor emphasized the commitment of his administration to addressing those issues through collaboration with relevant organisations.
He said through the Gombe State 10- year development plan, tagged DEVAGOM, his government is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Mohammed Fawu , Special Adviser to the Governor on Development Partners Coordination, Dr. Ishiyaku Babayo and Gombe State SURWASH project Coordinator, Mr. Usman Aliyu.
Our correspondent report that prior to SURWASH meeting with Governor Inuwa Yahaya the Team Lead inspected projects including water and sanitation facilities within and outside Gombe metropolis.
