The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Zone A has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his generous contribution of 700 bags of 5KG rice for Ramadan welfare to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Zone A (Northwest).
A statement signed by National Zonal Secretary Zone A, Abdulrazak Bello Kaura has said on Sunday in Gusau the Zamfara state capital.
The Union described the Ramadan welfare, facilitated by the office of the National Security Adviser through the Special Assistant to the President on Print Media, has been underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to supporting the welfare of journalists in the region.
“Each of the state councils within NUJ Zone A, comprising Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara States, received 100 bags of rice, ensuring equitable distribution among members”. Kaura stated.
According to him, the NUJ Zonal office has coordinated the transportation and distribution of the rice to ensure timely delivery to journalists across the region.
Also speaking, Malam Tukur Muhammad Umar, vice president NUJ zone A described the Ramadan gesture to members of the union by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu as welcome development.
“This contribution demonstrates president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recognition of the vital role journalists play in society and his commitment to their well-being.”
The Zonal office of the NUJ emphasized the significance of this welfare, noting that it is the first time journalists in the region have received such support directly from the presidency.
He urged President Tinubu to continue including journalists in welfare packages, enabling them to enjoy the dividends of democracy under the current administration.
“NUJ Zone A remains committed to serving its members and appreciates the continued support of President Tinubu and the Nigerian government.” He said.
