Former Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former and serving ministers were among hundreds of dignitaries who graced the turbanning ceremony of Alhaji Nasiru Haladu Dano as the Sardaunan Dutse II.
Hotpen reports that, Dutse emirate Council under the emirship of His Highness, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Sanusi elevated Alhaji Nasiru Haladu Dano from Dan Amanar Dutse to Sardaunan Dutse and also Mr Adokiye Ikpoki an indigene of Rivers state was conferred with a traditional title of So Dangin Dutse.
The elevation of Dano was sequel to the demise of former Sardaunan Dutse Alhaji Bello Maitama Yusuf who occupied the title for decades.
The turbaning ceremony of the kindhearted personality, successful business mogul cum politician of refute integrity, Nasiru Dano was held at the palace of emir of Dutse attended by former ministers of transport and aviation, Hon. Rotimi Ameachi, Hadi Sirika, former CG of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede, former Bauchi State governor, Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu.
Other personalities are Emir of Daura, His Highness Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, Emir of Lafiya, His Justice Muhammad Sidi Bagi,
Minister of Aviation Hon Festus Kiyamo, former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), Ex- EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu, Hon. Farouk Adamu Aliyu, Senator Ahmed Malam Madori, Hon. Makki Abubakar Yalleman, Mustapha Sule Lamido.
Speaking at the turbanning ceremony, emir of Dutse His Highness, Alhaji Hameem Muhammad Nuhu Sanusi said, the elevation of Dan Amana to one of the must exalted traditional title of Sardaunan Dutse was in recognition of his commitment to the peace, unity and development of Dutse Emirate, Jigawa state and Nigeria at large.
His words:- “We confer this title to you base on merit, over the years you proved to be a good son of the soil and good ambassador of the emirate, a man with spirit of national patriotism and service to humanity, we hope this new title will serve as a call for more selfless service.
“However for Mr Adokiye Ikpoki an indigene of Rivers State, a successful business man with link all over the nation and beyond, we confer this title to you base on your historical contribution and support to national unity and economic development.
“We expect you to use the title in promoting mutual understanding between the people of south- South and Dutse Emirate as well as North at large for peace and progress of the nation”.
Also speaking shortly after the turbaning ceremony, Alhaji Nasiru Haladu Dano (Sardaunan Dutse II) promised to do more for the progress of the Emirate and Nigeria at large.
Said he:-“I accepted this title as a call for more selfless service and I promised to hold the title with it’s glory and responsibility, I will do everything possible to reposed the confidence that Dutse Emirate and all well- wishers have on me,” Insha Allah.”
