The Chairman zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board Prof. Nasiru Garba Anka has described the training program for Early Childhood Development (ECD) teachers in Zamfara State as timely for teaching and significant step towards enhancing the quality of education for young learners in the state.
The Chairman stated this during a Four Day Training for ECD Teachers on Play-Based Learning Approach using Reggio Emelia in 50 SILSA Focused Schools across 10 LGAs in Zamfara State on Tuesday held at Teachers Training and Development Centre, in Gusau.
Prof Anka said it is essential for us to acknowledge the role of teachers in delivering quality education. The training of our teachers is paramount in ensuring that our children receive the best possible learning experiences. Through initiatives like this, we are working towards equipping our educators with the necessary skills and knowledge to create stimulating and engaging learning environments for our students.
He added that, the collaboration with UNICEF to roll out the Teachers Management Information Systems (TMIS) is a commendable effort towards strengthening our education system.
By improving the technical capacity of our teacher management structures, aimed at enhancing the recruitment, deployment, and progression of our teaching workforce, ultimately leading to improved education quality in Zamfara State.
“I extend my warmest welcome to all the participants of this 4-day training program. Your dedication and commitment to this initiative are highly appreciated. I urge each one of you to fully engage in the learning process and actively contribute to the discussions and activities that will take place over the next few days.” Said prof Anka.

Together, let us strive to create inclusive, creative, and supportive learning environments that cater to the individual needs of our young learners.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the UNICEF Focal person Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board ZSUBEB Muzamil Ibrahim said, UNICEF is supporting Zamfara State to implement Safe, Inclusive Learning and Skill for All (SILSA).
The programme is being funded by Norway Government for three Years from 2023-2025. and will cover 10 LGAs namely: Anka, Birnin Magaji, Bukkuyum, Bungudu, Kaura-Nomoda, Maradun, Shinkafi, Talata Marafa, Tsafe and Zurmi.
The overall targeted outcome of the programme is to increase the number of children, including adolescents, and particularly the most vulnerable, accessing safe, inclusive, learning and skills development opportunities in northwest and northeast Nigeria by 2025 Zamfara inclusive.
