Concerned citizen in Zamfara state, Malam Sani Nuhu has challenged Minister of Works, Sen. Engr Nweze David Umahi for taken side and neglecting the ongoing federal roads projects awarded by the federal government in some part of the six geopolitical regions.
Malam Sani Nuhu in an interview with newsmen in Gusau stated that since the inception of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and appointed Sen. Umahi as Minister of works, the minister tours South West Roads for one week, South South Roads for 2 weeks.
He further lamented that David Umahi tours South East Roads for 6 weeks and orders immediate rehabilitation of 3rd Mainland Bridge.
Malam Sani further stated that David Umahi gives an additional N20 billion for the Obogbo Road project to Julius Beger and flags off the N2.0 trillion West – East coastal highway construction.
We don’t know When will David Umahi will visit the North Central, North East, and North West federal Roads even for just familiarization? same disdain and Fashola had for the North is being institutionalised.” He said.
“I want to ask the minister of works Sen. Umahi that, did he knows the status of kaduna Abuja highway? We all know what’s going on but not saying anything.” He said.
Malam Sani lamented how the entire federal roads in the north are in deplorable conditions ranging from slow level of construction, insecurity and total neglect by the federal ministry of works under the watch of Sen. David Umahi, noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must call the minister to order for speedy and progress of the projects.
“We don’t want what happened during the administration of former president Muhammadu Buhari to repeat itself now where the former minister of works Baba Tunde Fashola has taken side by given much priority to the southern part of the country in terms of roads projects”. He further hinted.
He called on federal government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to as a matter of urgency checkmate the procedures put in place by the federal ministry of works to ensure timely completion of all the federal roads in the country.
“In any projects, there must be effective supervision and ensuring that the projects is going based on specifications and the minister of works must do the needful by ensuring equality when it comes to matter of supervision and completion of all the roads projects awarded by the federal government across the country.” He added.
