Group of concerned constituents of eight local government areas in Zamfara state have staged a peaceful protest in Gusau Tuesday, over suspension of their eight state lawmakers by the Zamfara state house of assembly.
Speaking to newsmen during the protest at the state house of assembly, the team leader of the group Saifullahi Abdullahi described the suspension of their eight members by the Zamfara state house of assembly under the leadership of the speaker Hon Bilyaminu Moriki as unconditional and undemocratic.
According to them, their eight members were suspended for the last four months, stressing that their constituencies have been left behind for the period under review.
“We missed so many opportunities in our various constituencies since the beginning of the suspension of our members by the state house of assembly for the past four months now and we need their immediate reinstatement.” He said.
The group urged Zamfara state governor Dauda Lawal to intervene on the matter for the reinstatement of their suspended members.
“We are calling on Zamfara state governor Dauda Lawal to intervene as quickly as possible for the immediate reinstatement of our representatives into the state assembly”.
It could be recalled that eight members representing Maru, Bungudu, Bukkuyum, Gummi, Maradun, Tsafe, Bakura and Talata Mafara local government areas at Zamfara, the state house of assembly were suspended about four months over their attempt to suspend the speaker Hon Bilyaminu Moriki.
