No fewer than five hundred households in Maradun town, the headquarters of Maradun local government area also the home town of Minister of state defense Hon Bello Muhammed Matawalle, have been rendered homeless following a heavy wind storm on Wednesday.
The wind storm which took about two hours blown off roofs and smashed buildings.
Also, affected were public buildings such as secondary schools and newly rehabilitated General Hospital.
“The number of affected houses were yet to be identified, but so far we counted the number to 500.” He said.
One Aliyu Muhammad said the wind storm was so heavy to the extent of off rooting trees and several electric poles.
According to him, it has long for the residents to have experienced such treble wind storm in recent rainy seasons.
“Infact, such heavy and devastating wind storm was experienced in 2012 causing serious havoc to the people, the same happened this time around”, he added.
The residents however, called on the state and federal government to as a matter of urgency come to the aide of the residents, especially, those rendered homeless.
