A combined security personnel have rescued eight out of the nine people abducted from Kanya, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
This development was revealed to Newsmen by the Chairman, Danko/Wasagu local government area, Hussaini Aliyu Bena in a telephone interview.
He attributed the success of the operation to the unwavering support of Governor Nasir Idris who ordered the Security to clamed down the kidnappers in the forest and the immediate rescue of victims.
The remaining victim, district head of Kanya, Alhaji Isah Daya according to the Chairman, his whereabouts still unknown but, unconfirmed sources revealed to Journalists that he was killed by the kidnappers.
The Chairman recalled that governor Idris, had earlier pledged the state government’s commitment to rescuing the abducted residents, upon receiving news of the incident and expressed deep concern but assured the public that the government, in collaboration with security agencies, would work tirelessly to secure the release of all the abducted victims which became reality.
The rescued victims have since been admitted at Sakaba General hospital receiving medical attention before uniting them to their families.
