
A former member of the House of Representatives and Independent Non-Executive Director of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya, has congratulated former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Muhammad Dikko Umar (Rtd.), and renowned legal luminary, Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, SAN, following their conferment with prestigious traditional titles by the Emir of Kano, His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Hon. Gaya joined family members, associates and other well-wishers at the Emir’s Palace on Friday to witness the colourful turbaning ceremony.
At the event, Air Marshal Muhammad Dikko Umar (Rtd.) was turbaned as Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idinawan Kano, while former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, SAN, was conferred with the title of Garkuwan Kano.
In a statement issued by his Media Directorate in Kano, Hon. Gaya described the honours as well-deserved recognition of two distinguished Nigerians whose outstanding contributions to national development and exemplary service in their respective fields have earned them widespread respect and admiration.
He congratulated the new Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idinawan Kano, Air Marshal Muhammad Dikko Umar (Rtd.), and the new Garkuwan Kano, Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, SAN, on their well-deserved traditional titles.
The former lawmaker, who represented Ajingi, Gaya and Albasu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, expressed confidence that the honours would further inspire the recipients to continue making meaningful contributions to the development of the Kano Emirate, Nigeria and humanity at large.
He also prayed that Allah would guide them, grant them greater wisdom, and strengthen them in the discharge of the revered responsibilities bestowed upon them.
