The establishment of strong synergy between government and private organizations in provision of job opportunities to youth described as an effective measure that will employ in curtailing vices among the younger generation and making them a productive member of the society.
The Executive Secretary of Kano State Science and Technical Schools Board, Malam Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi made the remarks in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Ibrahim Ado Sabari while receiving the visit by members of National Amalgamated Union For Mass Education in the board’s Secretariat.
Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi explained that nowadays the government must give a priority attention to the vocational education with a view to reduce high level of idleness that cause an increase in rate of crimes within the society especially among the youth.
The Executive Secretary added that in view of the high need of giving emphasis on skills acquisition programme the Science and Technical Schools Board under him made the two vocational centres owned by the board in Municipal and Dawakin Tofa more functional where youth and women are undergoing training in various skills.
He then cited the MAFITA Skills Acquisition Programme that carried out by the state government in collaboration with Department For International Development as clear indication of government’s commitments through the board to address challenge of unemployment, He said under the scheme hundreds of youth drawn from 44 Local Government Areas of the State were benefitted.
According to him the coming of the National Amalgamated Union of Mass Education members and expression of their interest to work closely with the government in the area of provision of skills acquisition training to youth was a wise decision made by the association and assured them the board will accord them all necessary cooperation that will enable the association to have a stake in the skills acquisition activities running by the board.
Earlier on, the National Executive Director of National Amalgamated Union For Mass Education, Malam Abubakar Ibrahim said they were in office to intimate the board management on their activities and also to seek ways of collaboration with it in provision of vocational education to the citizenry.
Meanwhile the association has also presented an award of excellence to the executive secretary in recognition of his contribution in human development especially in the area of science and technical education.
