In its fight against crime in 2023, the Katsina State Police Command, said it arrested 369 suspected rapists, 258 armed robbers, 64 kidnappers, and 176 murder suspects. The Command’s efforts further led to the successful rescue of 171 kidnapped victims.
The State’s Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, disclosed these figures during a press conference held at the Command’s headquarters on Tuesday. He acknowledged that the year had been “demanding” for the Command, but their dedication had allowed them to combat various forms of crime and criminality in the state.
He noted that a total of 1,627 suspects were arrested in connection with 938 reported major cases. Out of these, 395 cases were charged to court and are undergoing prosecution in various competent courts across the state. Additionally, a total of 495 suspects were arrested for various other offences, CP Musa said.
The Command also said it successfully recovered several exhibits: 12 AK-47 rifles, over 1,500 live rounds of ammunition, over 700 rustled animals, 12 stolen motor vehicles and motorcycles, and 17 stolen phones.
Furthermore, the Command seized 568 sachets of D5 tablets, 23 packets of Exzole tablets, 411 packets of Rebozel tablets, five packs of Diezole tablets, and a significant quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
CP Musa expressed gratitude to God, the Katsina State Government, and the Inspector General of Police for their support in enabling the Command’s progress. He also issued a firm warning to unrepentant criminals: surrender or face arrest.
While acknowledging these achievements, CP Musa emphasized the need for continued efforts. He urged unrepentant criminals to surrender or face the full force of the law.
CP Musa expressed gratitude to the Katsina State Government, the Inspector General of Police, and the good people of the state for their support in enabling the Command’s progress.
The Katsina Police Commissioner also acknowledged the press for their cooperation and urged them to continue portraying the diligent work of the Command and other security agencies to the public.
