Jigawa State Government has approved massive development projects worth over N300 billion.
The projects, aimed at improving the state’s road network, education, and healthcare sectors, are expected to have a significant impact on the lives of citizens.
Speaking at the State Executive Council meeting, Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure development.
“These projects are designed to drive economic growth, improve living standards, and position Jigawa State as a hub for investment and development,” he said.
On Road Network expansion, the state government has awarded contracts for the construction and rehabilitation of 45 roads across the state, covering a total distance of 835.36 kilometers. The project, valued at N300.46 billion, is expected to enhance connectivity, facilitate economic growth, and improve the overall transportation system.
On Education Sector Upgrade, in addition to the road projects, the government has also approved the renovation of 42 senior secondary schools across the state, at a cost of N871.69 million. This initiative aims to provide conducive learning environments, improve educational outcomes, and increase access to quality education.
On Healthcare Infrastructure Development, the healthcare sector is also set to benefit from the government’s infrastructure development drive. Contracts have been awarded for the construction of a permanent site for the College of Nursing Sciences in Hadejia, renovation of the College of Health Science and Technology in Jahun, and construction of new general hospitals in Kafin Hausa and Ringim. The total cost of these projects is N16.03 billion.
Furthermore, the government has approved the upgrade and conversion of motorized water supply schemes to solar-powered in 27 small towns across the state, at a cost of N473.62 million. This initiative aims to provide sustainable and reliable access to clean water, improving the health and wellbeing of communities.
Also, to ensure timely completion of the projects, the state government has approved payment of 10% of the total contract sum as advance payment to the respective contractors. This payment is secured by a perpetual advance payment guarantee from a reputable bank.
