Bogoro, Tafawa Balewa Crisis: Zauren Baba Gonto Sue For Peace, Unity
From Mu’azu Hardawa, Bauchi
HOTPEN – The elders of Sayawa Community in Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area Councils under the auspices of Zauren Peter Baba Gonto have sue for peace on the recent violence in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro local government area councils, Bauchi state.
The elders condemned in strong terms the ugly and unfortunate violence attacks on both their Royal Highnesses, the Emirs of Bauchi and Dass by thugs during the Peter Baba Gonto 21st memorial on 31st December, 202″.
The elders made their position during a press conference with journalists at NUJ secretariat in Bauchi. They noted that only peace can bring about development in any society, hence the need for the Zaar people to sheath their sword for peace to reign.
Mr. Bala Madaki, the spokesman of the group, said the elders have resolved to sue for peace among all Zaar communities inrespective of political affiliations, ideology, faith, clan or social status of the community.
According to him “This ugly avoidable debacle started from Tafawa Balewa from 29th through the 31st December 2021, and spread to other communities including Bar, Bogoro and Mwari the town of the legendary Baba Peter Gonto of blessed memories”.
“We also urged all Zaar sons and daughters to remain law abiding citizens, and embrace peace with one another for the development and progress of our land” the elders said.
“We therefore, called on all and sundry of Sayawa resident to shun and extract any forms of posting inciting, provocative and inflammatory statements that will lead to stirring of disaffection, and cause dis-unity in the communities, especially on social media”
While calling on the security agencies to go after and apprehend the perpetrators of these barbaric acts to face the full wrath of the law, they however, appealed to the government to compensate those who suffer losses during the incident.
