INEC has organized one-day sensitization stakeholders’ forum on BVAS in Bauchi inline with the preparation of the upcoming national elections across Nigeria.
The Residential Electoral Commissioner,Mr Mohammad Nura said that the primary aim of the meeting was to discuss BVAS in the conduct of 2023 elections in the country.
According to him,After the enactment of the new electoral act 2022,the electoral body has strengthened the use of the new technologies and online resources to ensure free,fair and transparent national election that should be acceptable by all Nigerians.
He also mentioned that,these instruments have been tested during off-season governorship election in Ekiti and Osun states as well as other bye-elections,where by all citizens applauded the commission for ensuring that the votes of the people counted.
The REC,said the Bio-modal Voter Accreditation System(BVAS) is one of the new technologies to be deployed for accreditation through fingerprint or facial recognition.
He equally stated that after the election at polling unit,it will be used to snap the results sheet(EC and A) for upload to the INEC result viewing portal(IReV) for the public knowledge,the statement concluded.
