The Zamfara Anti thuggery committee established by the state government has in a strong term condemned attack on its personnel allegedly by the Peoples Democratic Party PDP thugs .
The chairman of the committee Bello Mohammed Bakyasuwa stated this Thursday while fielding questions from newsmen via telephone interview.
According to him, the incident occured when PDP gubernatorial candidate Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare came back from his political rally.
He said during attack, 10 month baby was shot in his head and some personnel sustain injury as a result of gunshots by the PDP thugs.
“We were in our office only to hear sporadic gunshots by the PDP thugs who were sponsored by the PDP governorship candidate Dr Dauda Lawal Dare and as a result of the attack a passaby woman who was carrying her ten month old baby noticed that a stray bullet hit her baby on the head”.
” We have reported the matter to appropriate security agencies for urgent step and we are calling on security agencies particularly police to checkmate those culprits and brought them to book”. He added
In an interview with newsmen, a father of the ten month old baby Malam Idris Gado described the attack on his child as barbaric, calling on authorities concerned to arrest the culprits for legal action.
” I was sitting in my house at around 8:00pm only to get an information that my child was short by political hoodlums on the head when my wife was on her way back from her parents and I am appealing to relevant authorities to bring those who did this to my innocent child to book”. Gado stated .
Reacting on the alleged attack, the Acting state chairman of Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the state, Hon. Muktar Lugga via telephone call, debunked the allegation by the anti thuggery committee, describing it as baseless.
