Ensuring bumpers harvest and food availability among small and medium farmers is our top priority
The Project coordinator of Sasakawa Comrade Abdulrasheed Hamisu Kofar Mata stated this at the end of a three day consortium meeting to review the project activities in Kaduna.
In a statement signed and made available to Hotpen by the PR Specialist, Uba Abdallah, said Kofar Mata further pointed out that Sasakawa is working with private sector development partners were seven companies were engaged and funded to ensure optimum results among small farmers in Kano State.
He stressed that ICRISAT and IITA were fully engaged and funded also to provide improved seeds among farmers.
Kofar Mata equally revealed that the Sasakawa Africa which was saddle with the responsibilities of extension services has given priority to farmers education and enlightenment through series of Radio programs and sight visitations to ensure that farmers are fully enlightened for optimum results and are working on groups.
While speaking a crops specialist under Kano Agro-pastoral Development Project, KSADP said they’re taking care of the conduct of the crop aspect to increase agricultural productivity among small scale farmers and at the same time ensure food availability and nutrition among women and children.
The gathering served as an avenue for brainstorming and idea crystalization with a view to review what the project has done as well as tailored and monitored it’s performances which give rise to corrections where possible and advised on the way forwards.
