Kano State Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye has said the state government is committed to supporting initiatives that will promote and improve the youth journalism in the state.
The Commissioner stated this while receiving Kano Youth Journalists Forum who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
In a statement signed and made available to Hotpen by the Director Special Duties, Ministry of information, Sani Abba Yola, Dantiye expressed satisfaction with their contributions in the development of democracy and the state, promised to involve their members in training and retraining workshop by the state government.
According to him, the relationship between conventional media and social media should be complementary, because social media helps to make the work of journalists more easier and faster.
The Commissioner urged them to use social media as a platform for information dissemination not tools for fake news and distractive criticism.
In their separates remarks, the Chairman Kano Youth Journalists Forum, Musa Zangina Adam and the Senior special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media Hon. Salisu Yahaya Hotoro said they were at his office to congratulate him over his appointment as the Commissioner of Information and assured him of their support in publicizing the activities, policies and programmes of the state government.
The Forum appointed the Commissioner as its grand patron and the appointment letter was presented to him by the Chairman of the Forum.
