The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Jigawa state chapter has elected new executive leaders to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years.
The election was conducted over the weekend with the incumbent chairperson Hauwa Ibrahim Ladan emerged as re-elected chairperson.
Speaking during the inauguration of the new executives, the National Vice chairperson in charge of Northwest, Comrade Halima commended the peaceful conduct of the election.
“The election I supervised today in Jigawa state has followed a due process and all the candidate has satisfied the createria laid down by the NAWOJ constitution and that of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
“I am appealing to the new executives to carry all union members along, cooperate with state government, NUJ, partners and general public in championing for the interest of women and general public as we as peace and progress of the society “. Said Comrade Halima.
In his speech at the occasion, the chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Jigawa state council, Comrade Muhammad Garba Bulangu said, the election was a product sacrifice and upholding the principle of Justice, fairness and democratic tenants.
“So many things happened in the process of this election, but all it is now a history there are so many lesson to learn, impunity has no longer have any space in our Union, democracy and justice will continue to prevailed against all odds”. Comrade Balangu stated.
Speaking during the election, the chairman credentials Committee said, they were religiously guided by the constitution, and all the process followed for the election are documented for future reference.
Other new elected executives are Fadila Baffa Abdulkadir as Vice Chairperson, Zainab Baba Aliyu Santali, Secretary, Nafisa Hassan Abdullahi Assistant Secretary, Halima Yusuf treasurer, Sadiya Inuwa Musa Financial Secretary and Zainab J. Chiroma as Auditor.
