People living around coastal areas have been used to seeing different kinds and features of ships or vessels. A heavily loaded ship for instance, usually approaches the sea shores smoothly, gently and sometimes silently.
However, to the amazement of some pessimistic bystanders watching its arrival reluctantly from a distance, they will always find such kinds of vessels uploading a heavy consignments of assorted content, be it food stuff, machineries or other kinds of items for our common good. This is much to the admiration of all and sundry and beyond the imagination of habitual grumblers.
This is in sharp contrast with a vessel that approaches the shore imbued with thunderous noise only to be found empty on arrival and thus, uploads nothing more than its irritating noise!
This scenario of a heavily loaded ship described above represents the metaphorical qualities of Governor Dauda Lawal when you compare him with other leaders who would promise us heaven and earth but end up disappointing us. DL’s actions always speak for him rather than political hoax and needless propaganda.
Governor Dauda Lawal so emerged! with a sincere goodwill, strategic plan for development and the required linkages and collaboration to plant a permanent tree that will soon bear sweet fruits for an all-round development of Zamfara State.
For Dr Dauda Lawal to build Zamfara of our dream, he has to start from the scratch because as it was then, I couldn’t see any structure or framework for the development and prosperity of Zamfara State.
It is thus, a matter of taking the bull by the horn for total rebuild or rebirth of a new Zamfara which is a serious task currently resting heavily on the shoulders of our amiable Governor Dauda Lawal. May Allah make it easy for him.
To achieve this for posterity, certain necessary steps must be taken to right the wrong of the past and Dr Dauda Lawal has to wash the bowl properly and clear it of any debris and stinking odour before he can pour a fresh honey for the people of the state to lick with joy after years of suffering.
Any serious leader will do whatever it takes to put to fore, Such a corrective measure before delving into the real task of development work.
As humans we know such steps will certainly step on the toes of some people with a sort of ‘get reach quick syndrome’ or ‘sharp-sharp’ attitude always in favour of their selfish interest rather than the state.
Alas! at the risk of over repeating the scenarios of quadratic equation of problems inherited by the government of Governor Dauda Lawal having to contend with insecurity, shortage of water supply, non payment of examination fees and many more problems of unquantifiable proportion, I want us to know that it is not easy for anybody to lead a state like ours.
Beyond this, we must also reflect and think of our over bloated civil service where mediocrity seems to have over taken the place of expertise, professionalism and commitment to duty.
This is a very untoward situation where Intelligent and productive workers were left redundant while their junior colleagues as sacred cows were allowed to mess up flagrantly with the job and civil service rules and regulations.
Sadly too, the cherished principles of transparency and accountability in an ideal civil service were thrown to dogs since some selected few were allowed to penetrate like rats and rodents through a deliberately opened financial outlets as leakages for racketeering government resources with reckless impunity.
In the same neglect of our valuable God-given human resources, retired technocrats are countless in the state with beautiful ideas and patriotism full to the brim, but were left redundant with their stuff.
what kind of a leader will inherit this kind of system and then rush his steps?
How can you expect an educated Dauda Lawal with a back ground in a characteristically well organized banking sector take up this job and then build his administration on a weak and perishable foundation of the past?
No! we should expect result oriented innovations and deviation from business as usual that held the state in one place.
As a people of goodwill agitating for a functional reform of our state for better tomorrow of the next generation, we need to understand and accept this reality as we continually pray for resounding success in the rescue mission spearheaded by Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.
We must recall: It is far more, a difficult and unnerving task to mend a battered soul, than to destroy it effortlessly.
There is therefore, strong justifiable reasons why the new reform in Zamfara State has to be total, systematic and tactful.
Understanding the enormity of this task, will improve our faith in the new government of Dauda Lawal, stimulate our patience and perseverance as we witness a total overhaul of the system for a better Zamfara in our own interest and that of generations yet unborn.
With all fairness, In the reform process, we might occasionally be in tandem with carrot and stick experience and must accept each in good faith as one of the dynamics for positive change.
The gentle stride of a lion is a tactful plan to win the battle!
Gyara sai an Daure and We shall succeed Da ikon Allah!
