No fewer than eight civilians have been killed by the group of armed bandits in Maradun local government of Zamfara state.
Resident in the area identified as Muhammad Yusuf told our reporter in a telephone interview that the bandits attacked the victims when they were busy conducting communal local road clearance and killed eight of them .
According to him, the attack was occured on Sunday at around 12:00 pm.
He further explained that on the fateful day, three corpses were recovered and buried according to Islamic right in Maradun Town the headquarters of Maradun local government area of the state while the remaining five was also recovered Today Monday.
“Haven heard about the attack, we moved to the scene and evacuated three person who lost their lives yesterday Sunday and today Monday 19th February we recovered five additional persons and have since been buried according to Islamic injunction”. He said
He explained that many people injured during the attack as there are other people missing and still searching for their whereabouts.
“As I am talking to you now, we are looking for some of our people who do not return home after the attack “. He added.
Muhammad urged the federal government to redeploy more troops to the state with a view to contain the lingering insecurity affected the state to armed bandits activities.
“We’ve noticed the resurgence of banditry almost all over the state and we are appealing to Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come to our aid in addressing this challenge before the things run out of the hands”. He said.
He also called on governor Dauda Lawal to withdraw his official engagement outside the state and come back to the state and face the insecurity that bedeviled the state.
“I am appealing to governor Dauda Lawal to as a matter of urgency come back to his state to face our challenge of resurgence of banditry that is ravaging the socioeconomic of the entire people of Zamfara state”. He said.
However, the state police command public relations officer Asp Yazid Abubakar could not be reach as at the time of compiling the report by our correspondent.
