The management of the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata Mafara in Zamfara state has introduced an amnesty programme for non graduated students for them to complete their studies with ease.
The Public Relations Officer of the Polytechnic, Malam Awwal Ibrahim Dansadau stated this in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau, said the rational behind reintroducing the programme followed a memo presented, as well as requests from several quarters for the introduction of another Amnesty programme.
He further pointed out that the programme be run during the 2023/2024 academic session, stated that applicants must obtain Amnesty programme form at the Consultancy Services Unit of the polytechnic, AGP Talata Mafara.
“Applicants are required to fill in his/her Name, Course, Reg. no., Dept. and initial year of entry in the appropriate sections and take same to the relevant Dept where the HOD will confirm the information as well as the authenticity of the student”. Malam Awwal stated .
“The HOD will enter all failed/outstanding courses according to levels and semesters then sign the form”.
According to him, only Students that left the institution as a result of misconduct/gross misconduct are not eligible for the amnesty.
“Students having course(s) in both 1st and 2nd semesters must make full payments of both while students with only one semester could make half payment, all Amnesty Students must also register with their respective department as current students”. He stated.
He pointed out that both Full and part-time Amnesty students must attend all lectures, Continuous Assessments, (C.A), and end of semester exams together with regular and part-time colleagues respectively, stressing that each registered Amnesty student would use their pervious/old registration numbers.
“All Amnesty students can register for all their failed courses and also all Amnesty Students that joined the Polytechnic between 2016 to 2019 must visit the M.I.S unit to obtain a print out of their previous results and payment records while those who joined the school between 2005 to 2015 are to visit their departments and retrieve their previous results and also Dead” courses that no longer run can also be registered and taught by assigned lecturers”.
” All applicants must provide any of the following means of identification for entering into their files; i. Student ID card ii. Voters Card iii. National ID Card or iv. Driving License”. He contended.
