Kano State Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye has stated that plans are underway to build houses in state government owned media organizations for staff on night duty to have a place to stay the night.
The Commissioner disclosed this while receiving Radio, Television, Theatre and Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) Kano State Council who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
In a statement signed and made available to Hotpen by the Director Special Duties of the Ministry, Sani Abba Yola, said the commissioner explained that the houses which will be constructed in the government’s media organizations will create an enabling environment and address the challenges faced by the staff on night or early morning shift from their houses to their work places.
The statement added that the government Will involve all private media organizations in the state in training and retraining for professional efficiency.
The Commissioner who commended the contributions of RATTAWU to effective information dissemination, assured them of his support for them to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
Earlier, the Chairman, Radio, Television, Theatre and Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) Kano State Council, Babangida Mahmuda Biyamusu said they were at his office to congratulate him over his appointment as the Commissioner of Information.
The Chairman who revealed that they have over 3,000 members in the state, stated some of challenges faced by the union and need government support which includes lack of office accommodation, and vehicle for the successful accomplishment of their duties.
Biyamusu assured the Commissioner of the union’s readiness to support and publicize the activities of the state government.
