The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC has keenly been watching the so called examplary leadership of non performance, vendetta, threats, dictatorship and consequential leadership among others being exhibited by governor Dauda Lawal Dare in Zamfara which is putting the state in a precarious position.
It is undoubtedly true that government is a continuous process. It is also true that copyrights are credited to its owner or initiator, especially in politics where politicians like the present governor of Zamfara, Mr. Dauda Lawal Dare who has taken to condemning his predecessors while executing projects that they initiated.
Mr. Dare who has now devised a way of accusing past leaders for not having done anything, now turns around to pick their projects, inflate their costs beyond normal human imagination while hiding the original and pretend to be the one doing it from scratch.
Typical of such projects is the rehabilitation of Sani Abacha way ( Lalan to Lalan road) in the state capital, Gusau which contract was given less than four years ago by immediate past administration of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle at N5.1 billion but has now been inflated to a walloping N11 billion, meaning each kilometer will cost the state’s tax payers money over N1 billion to be layed.
Even the urban renewal dictum which the governor is now claiming to have initiated himself, was the initiative designed and paid for by former governor Abdul Aziz Yari Abubakar with his Deputy Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Wakkala Muhammad as the chairman of the project implementation committee alongside committee members including Engr. Dama Abdullahi, Arch. AA Gusau, Arch Ibrahim Agigi (now adviser on urban renewal to governor Dauda) among others and the first leg of the project kicked off from Muslim Foundation through Dauda’s father’s house and his own house to Albarkawa to Hayin Bugaje to Birnin Ruwa to Rabi’a Mosque terminating at Bello Bara’u round about.
Matawalle started Polo shopping centre to Canteen area to Tudun Wada round about terminating at Ungwan Gwaza round about.
Similarly, the road from Chediya Uku to Hayin Magaji is part of Matawalle’s project under the urban renewal.
The whole design of the urban renewal came from Yari’s government, while Matawalle continued from where Yari stopped.
So, for someone else to lay claim to the whole project does not show honour in a leader.
It is no longer news in the dreaded bandits controlled Zamfara under Mr. Dare that the governor is out on a mission to discredit and destroy the good legacies of past leaders, making himself super and ‘Mr. know all.’
The likelihood here is, even the scrapping of the link dual carriage road leading to the Cargo Airport project site which was carried out on the instructions of the governor is now raising the suspicion that it might have been done to discredit the work done which is characteristic of the governor’s castigation and as well to pave way of corruptly inflating cost of the project. After all, the true documents containing details of the project are now being hidden from the public by the state administration, which we are ready to expose.
During his four years of eventful and historic tenure, immediate past Gov. Bello Mohammed Matawalle had among other critical interventions and in order to bring an end to banditry through non kinetic means, initiated and immediately began the establishment of RUGA settlement providing all the necessary social security and facilities to make up a modern village.
With the commitment and good intentions of having such a RUGA settlement in each of the senatorial districts of the state, Matawalle, now Minister of (State) Defence had almost completed the first settlement situated in Maradun local government area before his second term mandate was stolen from him.
Even the nearly completed RUGA settlement in Maradun local government is now under threat by the political treachery of governor Dare who is all out to sprinkle acid on projects ongoing or completed by the Matawalle government simply because Mr. Dare out of envy and the need to cover his failure characterized by non performance does not like the latter or anything achieved in the state, especially during Matawalle’s tenure in office.
Both as a political party and as good patriotic citizens of Zamfara, we want to urge our people throughout the state to closely watch over and raise alarm on any and every suspicious movement on properties and facilities provided by the government in their respective areas to protect vandalization of the property by the Dauda goons.
We will be giving every detail on the PDP under Dauda’s administration for collective benefits.
