The war in Gaza has continued unabated, in an atmosphere of heightened tensions, more deaths, anguish and destructions in total disregard for international war rules and principles.
An overnight ground raid cum incursion by the IDF targeting Hamas positions in Khann Younis, killed 17 people, while dozens got trapped in the rubbles.
So far, as many as 6,546 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, and more than 17,435 wounded. At least 10 Americans are believed to be among the 222 people held captives by Hamas. One of them is said to be lamenting US/Israel crude approach to global issues that require decorum and diplomatic skills and dexterity.
Iran and Hezbullah have sent a final warning to Israel and US – indicating their stand and readiness to join the war in defense of Palestine, humanity, freedom and liberty.
The US Security Council on 25 October failed again to take action on the Israel /Hamas war, with Russia and China vetoing a US led draft resolution and text led by Moscow drawing insufficient support.
Earlier this month, Iran issued a stern warning to Saudi Arabia as the crown Prince was quoted as saying his Kingdom is moving steadily closer to normalising relations with Israel, and also warned that if it gets a nuclear weapon, ‘we have to get one’.
Recently, Turkish President Racep Tayyip Erdogan resounded his warning and stance that Palestinian militant group Hamas isn’t a terrorist group, but a liberation organization fighting to protect its land.
Hundreds of people on Wednesday and Thursday have taken to streets in Tel Aviv, Israel, to demand that the Israeli government secure the release of hostages seized by Hamas in it’s October, 7 attacks on southern Israel. This is coming at a time when a massive shoot out ranted the air in Lewiston, Maine, US – sending several citizens scampering in to hide, after nabbing 17 people.
This shootout is the 36th in the state’s second largest city in US with mass casualty this year. There is fear and uncertainty as more of such are expected sooner than later, with most of the residents are locked at their homes.
On the other side, the UN Secretary General – Antonio Guterres called the situation in Gaza as ‘dire’, adding that Hamas’ attacks can not justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.
UK Ministers are currently holding an emergency meeting over Gaza as works intensify’ to secure “pauses” in the conflict between Israel and Hamas after Israel conducted a tank raid in Gaza inflicting heavy casualty on the civilians and causing more destructions and damages. So far, out of the 35 hospitals in Gaza, 20 have closed.
As Guterres’ comments angered Israel, and as more UN members back Hamas, the deepening spat exposes the cracks and tensions around the calls for a ceasefire, as Hamas /Hezbullah swore to take the war to it’s conclusive end, as thousands of youths across the globe are eager to be drafted in to Hamas for a volunteer force work..
